How To Make Money Red Dead Redemption 2 Online

Making Money In Red Dead Online Is Pointless

Red Dead Online continues to allow players more ways to earn money, but it has given them very few worthwhile things to purchase with their earnings.

Rockstar's western frontier already had a serious currency problem, but the latest update makes it glaringly obvious that money has become officially pointless in Red Dead Online . It didn't start that way, and new players will certainly need a fistful of dollars and maybe a few dollars more to get things going. Very quickly, though, the game reaches a point where players have an outright abundance of cash.

This dilemma is bizarre, consideringRed Dead Online's recent update has money in its title, and that is literally all that the missions reward. There's a monotonous system inBlood Money that falsely inflates the work players are doing, but some extra cash is all the players get for their time and effort at the end of the day. An odd reward considering that, for veteran players, there's nothing left in Red Dead Online to buy.

Red Dead Online's issue has become two-fold on this front, with more missions slowly being added to earn cash and yet no new additions of things to buy with said cash. This goes hand-in-hand with Rockstar's approach to RDO's season pass system, which is one of the few ways new content is introduced to the western frontier. These passes, however, cost gold bars instead of cash, and all the rewards they contain naturally don't cost extra once players unlock them. The only things the recent update added that do cost cash are previous Red Dead Onlineseason pass items that veteran players likely already obtained.

Solving Red Dead Online's Money Problem

New players might find the money grind quite challenging at first. After all, the camp upgrades and role items do cost cash on top of the role tokens used to unlock them. However, that struggle disappears quickly after a few weeks maxing out all ofRed Dead Online's role ranks and all the missions and daily challenges that entails. In short order, new players will find themselves in the same boat as the veteran players who have tens of thousands stashed just waiting for something to purchase. Fortunately, there is an entire western world worth of possibilities to alleviate this issue.

Rockstar could introduce long fan-requested things like purchasable homes. It's already dabbled in this area with the Moonshine shack, and doing a fullRed Dead homesteaders expansion would give players a true frontier experience. Camp upgrades could be introduced that make it a more nuanced aspect of the game, like in the campaign. Things like a butcher's stall to stall to sell excess goods or a poker table for posses to sit together and play a few rounds would drastically improve the experience ofRed Dead Online.

There is certainly room for much larger endeavors as well.RDO's modern-day siblingGTA Onlinehas developed an excellent balance of using money to unlock bigger and better missions. Players can't do their first heist until they purchase a penthouse, they have to purchase an even more expensive arcade to do the Casino Heist, and they have to spend even more on a submarine to do the Cayo Perico heist. This gradual system of making money to buy a new property to make more money would work perfectly inRed Dead Online, with anything from epic, sprawling steamboat heists to massive fur trader expeditions and more.

The possibilities border on innumerable for the beautifully realized western frontier, but for the time being, the good, the bad, and the ugly of Red Dead Online'smoney system will continue to linger. Hardcore fans will continue having more ways to earn cash, but until some truly new content comes to Red Dead Online , it's all become a worthless currency.
